On nicknames...

(mommy's goin' a little hipstamatic crazy, eh?)

When we first brought Lani home from the hospital we learned she could fart like a champion. And so we jokingly started calling her Pumpy Bum. For whatever reason, this little nickname stuck and Ry & I started calling her this all the time. Our wee pumpy bum, bless her little heart. I keep saying to Ry we're going to have to stop calling her that soon, because once she's old enough to know what it means she's not going to be pleased. :) We also call her monkey feet and of course her REAL "nickname", which is Lani. I wonder if she'll contiune to use Lani once she starts school or she'll want to use Alana. Either way, she's always be my wee pumpy bum.

Molly's left back home now, which was depressing but we did get to do one more really exciting thing before she headed the 6000 miles back home. Here are a few photos....

Amazing, right? If you're ever in Scotland, be sure to visit Raptor World at the Scottish Deer Centre in Cupar, Fife.

Busy Busy Busy!

My best friend Molly from America (we've known each other since we were 13!) came to Edinburgh on the 9th to visit me and meet Miss Alana. She leaves this Sunday (i'm SO SAD) But we've got a lot of fun stuff planned for the next couple of days. On Friday it's Sushi and Harry Potter (VIP tickets!!) night! Couldn't be more excited!
Then on Saturday we are going to Raptor World and doing a 2-hour Bird of Prey Experience which includes handling owls and hawks! So basically the most amazing thing ever. I am seriously giddy with glee. :)

Besides that Lani is doing pretty great. Last Wednesday she was weighed and had only gained 5 ounces in two weeks. She's been having trouble gaining weight since birth and I finally decided that she needed a formula supplement. There is such guilt attached to feeding your child formula and not strictly breastfeeding and that was the main reason I waited so long. But really? The worry was making me as sick as the guilt. She was weighed again today after about a week of supplementing her with formula and guess what? She gained AN ENTIRE POUND. I am so happy, I could cry. Completely worth any guilt I feel. She just seems so much happier and her little cheeks and full and her skin is clear now. It's wonderful.

And look at her! How cute is she??

Oh, the wee baby.

She is still swimming in most of her clothes. It's funny to think we worried we had too many clothes for her to choose from and I still dress her in like 5 different outfits because everything is too big stilll. :)

One month old!

Happy (slightly belated) One Month Birthday, Lani! Technically, it was yesterday but the weather was dreary all day and over cast, which made taking photos nearly impossible. It's crazy how time flies, it's hard to believe she is a month old already. We've got a busy few weeks ahead of us, with Auntie Molly flying to Edinburgh from LA for a visit. Fingers crossed we can get the breast pump functioning properly so we will be able to at least go see the new Harry Potter movie while she is here.

Lani also "slept through the night" twice this week, which basically was from midnight to 5:45am. It was pretty wonderful, to be honest. Hopefully we can get into a night pattern of one long sleep through the night so we can all feel more energetic during the days.

Happy Birthday my little pumpybum (our wee daughter's nickname, pretty self explanatory), can't wait for all the next month holds!

She kinda looks like a wee pirate in this onesie...

The dread pirate Lani can now sit up on her own when being propped against a pillow. How cute is that??
